Knitwear — the year-round shift
Compare pointelle, French terry, ponte, and merino knits. Read gauge and fibre on the fabric page before you treat two knits as the same cloth.
Compare the named fabrics in this Knitwear edit for composition, construction, and documented Best For uses. Open any fabric for the full specification, then inquire with the quantity you need.
The Knitwear collection groups named FabStitch fabrics that share a material direction. It is not a single cloth and it is not a price list. The fabrics in this edit are Open-Stitch Knit, Pointelle Knit, Crochet-Effect Knit, Fine-Gauge Semi-Sheer Knit, Cotton Bouclé Knit, Linen Bouclé Knit, Lightweight Merino Knit, Lightweight French Terry, Classic French Terry, Organic Cotton French Terry, Cotton Modal French Terry, Stretch French Terry, Slub French Terry, Fine Loopback French Terry, Heavyweight French Terry, Recycled Cotton French Terry, Peached French Terry, Rayon Nylon Ponte, Cotton Rayon Ponte, Classic Double-Knit Ponte, Compact Ponte, Brushed Ponte, Structured Ponte, Lightweight Ponte, Matte Ponte, Ribbed Ponte, Travel Ponte.
Use the collection when the fibre or the character is the starting point. Use a Best For page when the garment is already fixed. Use the marketplace when you need to search across collections. An inquiry should still name one fabric URL.
Construction and weight change the cloth more than the collection title. Two fabrics in Knitwear can share a fibre and still differ in hand, cover, and GSM. Compare the published cells. Do not infer a measurement that a fabric page omits.

Knitwear does not add certificates, supplier counts, or inventory. If a fabric page leaves a field blank, the collection does not fill it in. Return to the marketplace only after you have a shortlist of named cloths. The inquiry names one fabric from Open-Stitch Knit, Pointelle Knit, Crochet-Effect Knit, Fine-Gauge Semi-Sheer Knit, Cotton Bouclé Knit, Linen Bouclé Knit, Lightweight Merino Knit, Lightweight French Terry, Classic French Terry, Organic Cotton French Terry, Cotton Modal French Terry, Stretch French Terry, Slub French Terry, Fine Loopback French Terry, Heavyweight French Terry, Recycled Cotton French Terry, Peached French Terry, Rayon Nylon Ponte, Cotton Rayon Ponte, Classic Double-Knit Ponte, Compact Ponte, Brushed Ponte, Structured Ponte, Lightweight Ponte, Matte Ponte, Ribbed Ponte, Travel Ponte, not the collection title.
Jersey, interlock, rib, French terry, ponte, pointelle, and bouclé can be cotton, merino, modal, or a blend. The loop is what stretches, curls, or shows an open stitch. French terry has loops on the back and a smoother face, which is why it is used for sweatshirts when the weight supports it. Ponte is a double knit and usually more stable than a single jersey. Pointelle and crochet-effect knits are open on purpose. Do not line a sweatshirt brief with a pointelle.
Fine-gauge and lightweight merino pages describe that cloth. They do not set a GSM for every knit in the collection. A heavyweight French terry and an ultra-open pointelle can both be knits and fail each other’s garments. If gauge or micron is published, copy that figure. If it is blank, leave it blank.
Start from the garment on the knitwear or activewear Best For page when the end use is fixed. Start here when you already want a knitted construction. Name one fabric URL in the inquiry. Related woven collections do not describe recovery or curl.
