What is fabric?

A practical definition is a material formed into cloth for clothing, lining, or home textiles. Industry language sometimes uses fabric for the woven or knit sheet and textile for the wider field that also includes fibers and yarns.

Calling something fabric does not say it is breathable, durable, or suitable for shirts. Those depend on weight, weave or knit, and finish.
